It is signed and dated “Brian Brown 88” at lower right, titled by hand on the reverse and retains Brown’s original studio stamp identifying him as “Brian Brown ‘Brownie’, Kilpatrick Rd., Euston, N.S.W.”

About the Artist:

Brian Brown, known as “Brownie”, was a regional Australian artist working from Kilpatrick Road, Euston, NSW.

While little published biographical information about Brown appears to survive, the original studio stamp retained on the reverse of this painting provides an important contemporary record of the artist, his working name and his Euston location.

His subject matter in this work is closely connected with the landscape of the district in which he worked. Tol Tol lies in the Murray River region near Robinvale and Euston, making this an appealing example of regional Australian art depicting the artist’s local environment.

The existence of a purpose-made studio stamp also suggests Brown was producing and offering his paintings commercially rather than this simply being an isolated amateur work.

Importantly, this work should not be confused with paintings by other Australian artists also named Brian Brown. The “Brownie” name and Euston studio stamp provide the clearest identification of this particular artist.

Condition:

Condition: Good vintage condition – see detailed notes below.

This is an original artwork dating from 1988 and presents very well for its age.

* Painting retains strong, vibrant colour.

* Signed and dated “Brian Brown 88” lower right.

* Handwritten title “Sunset on Murray R. at Tol Tol” verso.

* Original Brian Brown “Brownie”, Euston NSW studio stamp verso.

* Attractive texture and brushwork throughout.

* Frame presents well with minor marks and wear consistent with age.

* Substantial framed size of approximately 82 × 62 cm gives the work excellent wall presence.

* Ready to hang and display.

A wonderfully decorative piece of Australian regional landscape art with the added appeal of a documented Murray River location and original artist identification.

📸 The photos form part of the description – please examine them closely.

Postage & Handling:

📦 All items are carefully wrapped and packaged to ensure they arrive safely at their new forever home.

Due to the size and framed nature of this artwork, local pickup is welcomed and preferred.
