J. Boyd, depicting a quiet river or billabong surrounded by towering eucalyptus trees, golden grasses and distant blue-purple ranges.

Boyd uses a particularly appealing palette here, with the cool blues and greens of the water and distant landscape contrasted against warm ochre and golden tones in the foreground. Reflections across the still water add depth to this quintessentially Australian scene.

D. J.
