Mini Story

A finely made antique copper fire screen dating to the late Victorian–Edwardian period, featuring a horse-drawn wagon scene embossed in relief. Narrow-format fire screens such as this were designed to sit close to the hearth, offering protection from sparks while also serving as a decorative fireside feature.

The combination of copper, brass, steel, and timber is typical of quality fireplace accessories produced around the turn of the 20th century. Today, pieces like this are equally appreciated as sculptural interior décor, whether used fireside or displayed as a standalone decorative object.
