Mini Story or Hook:

An atmospheric original Australian coastal landscape dating from 1979, depicting a sweeping shoreline with rocky foreshore, native-looking vegetation and distant hills beneath a dramatic cloud-filled sky.

Painted in a cool palette of blues, greys and whites, the artist has used visible, textured brushwork to capture movement in both the water and clouds. The subdued colouring and period frame give the work a wonderfully authentic late-1970s character.

The painting is clearly signed and dated “C WEARNE 79” to the lower right. While we have been unable to conclusively establish further biographical information for C. Wearne, the work presents as a genuine period original and is an appealing piece of vintage Australian decorative art.

A great addition to a collection of Australian landscapes, coastal art, 1970s interiors or simply as an attractive original artwork for the home.
