Mini Story or Hook

An interesting piece of early Crown Casino history, dating from the period when Crown operated from its original temporary home at The Galleria, World Trade Centre Melbourne, before the opening of the permanent Southbank complex in 1997.

Unlike an ordinary souvenir deck, these cards were actually used at Crown Casino before being retired. The original packaging specifically states:

“Every deck of cards is a unique part of gaming history. This one played out its life at Crown Casino.”

As required when the cards were retired, a hole was drilled through the deck to prevent them being returned to gaming use.

The side of the original box is particularly appealing to collectors, carrying the early wording “CROWN CASINO AT THE GALLERIA – WORLD TRADE CENTRE MELBOURNE.”

A great survivor from the formative years of Crown and an unusual piece of Melbourne casino and entertainment history.
