A superb and well-provenanced Australian modernist armchair designed and made by celebrated Melbourne furniture and interior designer Dario Zoureff.

The chair was commissioned directly from Zoureff in the mid-1960s by the father of its previous owner, who engaged the designer to fit out the family home with his furniture. This direct family provenance provides an especially compelling connection to Zoureff’s bespoke interior-design practice.

Featuring a beautifully sculpted timber frame, sweeping arms and an elegant radiating spindle back, the chair retains its original burnt-orange upholstery. The warm fabric and finely shaped timber give it the authentic character and sculptural quality for which Zoureff’s work is increasingly recognised.

This is a genuine vintage Dario Zoureff armchair dating from the mid-1960s.

* The sculpted timber frame has recently been carefully rejuvenated to revive its colour and grain while retaining its vintage character.

* The original burnt-orange fabric has been carefully revived and presents attractively.

* Frame appears solid and serviceable.

* Original removable seat and back cushions are included.

* Sweeping arms, tapered legs and decorative radiating spindle back remain intact.

* Upholstery displays minor age-related variations, marks and signs of use consistent with an original fabric of this age.

* Timber may retain minor marks and variations associated with age and previous use.

* No maker’s label has been identified; however, the chair has direct family provenance confirming that it was commissioned from Dario Zoureff.

* Only the single armchair shown prominently in the photographs is included. Other furniture and display items are not included.
