Mini Story or Hook

A fascinating mid-century biography of one of America’s most influential composers, George Gershwin, whose music bridged the worlds of classical composition, jazz and popular song.

Written by noted music biographer David Ewen, A Journey to Greatness traces Gershwin’s life, career and extraordinary musical legacy. Ewen had interviewed Gershwin personally when he was just sixteen and later drew upon first-hand material, the cooperation of the Gershwin family and interviews with more than sixty people associated with the composer.

Published in London by W. H. Allen in 1956, this vintage hardcover retains its striking original illustrated dust jacket and makes an appealing addition to a collection of music, theatre, Broadway or Gershwin memorabilia.
