Mini Story or Hook
An elegant piece of mid-century Italian silverwork, this three-light candelabrum combines traditional Rococo Revival styling with the craftsmanship of the Vercelli silversmithing tradition.
The candelabrum features scrolling branches, shaped candle sconces, a baluster-form central stem and an ornate shaped base, creating an impressive decorative piece despite its relatively compact proportions.
It is clearly struck “800”, confirming 800/1000 silver, together with the Italian registered silversmith mark “28 VC”. The letters VC identify Vercelli, while 28 represents the registered silversmith or workshop number.
Published Italian hallmark records place 28 VC around 1953–1954, although the name of the registered maker is presently listed as unavailable.
A particularly interesting piece for collectors of Italian silver, European decorative arts and vintage tableware.
