A wonderfully presented set of six English table knives made by Joseph Fenton & Sons of Sykes Works, Sheffield. The knives combine stainless-steel blades with finely lined cream Xylonite handles, giving them the refined appearance associated with quality early 20th-century British tableware.

The original red presentation box survives with its colourful Joseph Fenton trade label, fitted dividers, lambswool padding and clearly printed “Stainless Xylonite Table” end label. A handsome and increasingly uncommon example of traditional Sheffield cutlery.

This is a genuine vintage boxed cutlery set.

* All six table knives are present.

* Stainless-steel blades display surface scratches, polishing marks and signs of previous use.

* Cream Xylonite handles show age-related marks, minor discolouration and general surface wear.

* No obvious major cracks or substantial losses are visible to the handles in the supplied photographs.

* The original red box remains intact and presents attractively for its age.

* Box corners and edges have rubbing, scuffing, small splits and general storage wear.

* The printed Joseph Fenton & Sons trade label has surface wear, handwriting and areas of deterioration.
