Mini Story or Hook

A beautifully atmospheric original watercolour by Judy McGrath, titled Evening Beauty.

Painted in a soft palette of mauve, violet, ochre and earthy tones, the work depicts a tranquil waterside landscape with trees and foliage reflected across the still water. McGrath’s loose and expressive handling of the medium gives the scene a wonderfully evocative evening quality.

The artwork is signed Judy McGrath at lower right and importantly retains its original handwritten label verso, identifying the artist, title and medium as “Water Colour”.

Research has identified a Judy McGrath associated with watercolour painting in Victoria, including watercolour instruction through U3A Bendigo. While this provides an interesting possible connection, we have not conclusively established that she is the same Judy McGrath who painted this work, and accordingly make no definitive biographical attribution.
