Mini Story or Hook

A substantial early collection of Leslie Charteris’ adventures featuring Simon Templar – “The Saint”, the debonair adventurer, detective and sometime rogue who became one of the great popular fictional characters of the 20th century.

First published as an omnibus in 1939, this copy is the April 1950 fourth impression and runs to an impressive 1,008 pages. The volume gathers a selection of Saint adventures drawn from earlier Charteris works, making it an appealing vintage reading copy and collectible for fans of classic British crime and adventure fiction.

The green cloth binding is particularly attractive, with the front board featuring the title in black and red together with the famous Saint stick-figure emblem.

An interesting additional feature is the period Saint Club notice tipped onto the final page, advising members of the club’s new London address and referring to its charitable activities.

* Previous owner’s ink stamp to the front endpaper reading “THIS BOOK IS THE PROPERTY OF JOY BLAKE.”

* Vintage Robertson & Mullens Ltd., Melbourne bookseller label to the front pastedown.

* Pages show expected age toning.

* Binding shows age and wear but the volume remains together and readable.

* Period Saint Club change-of-address notice is affixed towards the rear of the volume.
