About the Artist

Ludwig Blum (1891–1975) was one of Israel’s most important twentieth-century painters. Born in Moravia, he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague before serving in the Austro-Hungarian Army during the First World War.

Blum immigrated to Jerusalem in 1923 and devoted much of his life to capturing the landscapes, architecture and people of the Holy Land. His works were exhibited internationally and are represented in numerous important collections, including:

• Yad Vashem, Jerusalem
• The Knesset Collection
• Tel Aviv Museum of Art
• Numerous public and private collections throughout Israel, Europe and the United States

Today, Blum is regarded as one of the foremost painters of Jerusalem, with his works highly sought after by collectors worldwide.
