Mini Story
A substantial and highly decorative Italian R. Capodimonte porcelain smoking and desk set, dating to the late 1950s–1960s. This impressive piece features two deeply moulded ashtrays flanking a central cigarette holder, all richly decorated with sculptural cherub relief and rococo-style scrollwork.
The hand-painted Capodimonte crest mark, dense porcelain body and deep relief modelling are characteristic of post-war Italian Capodimonte production, prior to later cost-reduced export wares. Larger and more ornate than the commonly encountered single ashtrays, this is a true display-scale piece.
Today, pieces like this are often repurposed as jewellery trays, desk accessories or decorative centrepieces, while still retaining their original charm and craftsmanship.
