Mini Story or Hook:

A charming original Australian landscape by Sally Brown, depicting the tranquil waters and surrounding bushland of Terramona Lake, New South Wales.

The composition captures a quintessential Australian landscape, with calm blue water, mature gum trees, distant mountain ranges and an expansive cloud-filled sky. Brown has used areas of textured and heavier paintwork through the foreground and vegetation, giving the landscape additional depth and character.

The artist is identified not only by the painted signature at lower right, but also by a surviving original typed artist’s label on the reverse reading “Oil Painting by Sally Brown.” The label is additionally handwritten “Terramona Lake, N.S. Wales”, providing useful provenance and identification of the subject.

Sally Brown appears to have been an Australian landscape painter active during the 20th century. While detailed biographical information about this particular artist is limited, other vintage Australian landscape paintings attributed to Sally Brown have appeared on the secondary market.
