Stanley Trainor (British) – “Halton Gill, Littondale” – Original Signed Watercolour Dated 21 May 1978

A charming and atmospheric original watercolour by British landscape artist Stanley Trainor, depicting the Yorkshire Dales village of Halton Gill, Littondale, North Yorkshire.

Signed lower right, the work has been carefully examined and retains pencil inscriptions on the reverse identifying the location and date:

“Halton Gill, Littondale – 21st May 1978”

Research indicates that the scene represents the approach into Halton Gill along Arncliffe Road, with the distinctive bridge, stone buildings and surrounding hills still recognisable today.

Stanley Trainor worked from Bradford, West Yorkshire, producing landscapes in watercolour. Comparable works are known with his printed business card:

This piece was recently removed from its frame for inspection, allowing the title and date to be documented and preserved. It has now been carefully reassembled.
