Mini Story:


An elegant example of Victorian style English silver, this substantial sterling silver sugar caster would have graced the dining table of a well-appointed home during the late nineteenth century. Featuring a beautifully pierced dome lid, octagonal body and pedestal foot, it is both decorative and functional.


Traditionally used for dispensing sugar, cocoa or spices, pieces such as this are increasingly sought after by collectors of antique silver for their craftsmanship, history and enduring appeal.

This is a genuine antique sterling silver piece in collectible condition:


* London sterling silver hallmarks present and visible.

* Date letter believed to indicate c1935 as it has the King George coronation head.

* Maker’s mark is present but worn and no longer fully legible.

* Lid removes and fits securely.

* Attractive aged patina throughout.

* Light surface marks and wear consistent with age and careful use.

* There is a dent to the underside/base which causes the caster to sit with a slight lean when displayed.

* No obvious repairs noted.

* A handsome and substantial Victorian silver piece that displays well.
