A particularly handsome piece of late-1970s Australian traditional furniture, this elegant pedestal hall table combines classic Regency-inspired styling with a beautifully figured mahogany finish.
The table features a long rectangular top, panelled apron with central drawer, substantial turned pedestal and four gracefully swept legs terminating in decorative brass paw feet.
What makes this example especially appealing is its surviving original W F Hamilton & Co Pty Ltd paperwork dated 5 April 1978, providing unusually good provenance and firmly dating the piece. The invoice records an original price of $187.00 plus 2½% sales tax – $191.67 in total, a substantial purchase for 1978.
