About:
Step back into a storybook world with this charming vintage cottage-shaped tea set. Featuring a thatched roof teapot with chimney lid, matching sugar bowl, and creamer, this whimsical set captures the warmth and nostalgia of mid-century novelty ceramics.
Likely produced in the city of Seto (Nagoya region) in Aichi Prefecture, this city was renowned for being one of Japan's largest ceramic production hubs, and it specialised namely in novelty and decorative ware, and even spouted the generic Japanese term of 'setomono,' which means "Things from Seto" and can refer to any and all pottery.
Each piece in this set has been finished in a rich honey-toned crackle glaze with likely hand-detailed doors, windows, roof tiles, and garden foliage; giving each piece a fairy tale charm.
Overall, this is a beautiful decorative set that works perfectly for afternoon tea, cottage-core interiors, or even novelty ceramic collections. Whatever the use, this is a 'must have' piece for anyone.
