📖 A Little History – Where Every Find Tells a Story

Step back into the pageantry of medieval Europe with this beautifully detailed vintage German beer stein by Gerz, one of Germany's established manufacturers of traditional stoneware drinking vessels.

Featuring an impressive raised-relief scene of armoured knights on horseback, the design captures the excitement and ceremony of medieval tournaments. Its warm earthy glaze, intricate decorative borders and distinctive three-medallion handle give this piece considerable character.

Finished with a traditional hinged metal lid, this stein is a charming example of West German decorative stoneware and a wonderful addition to a breweriana collection, home bar or vintage display.

Condition

Good – vintage pre-owned condition.

• The stoneware body presents well, with attractive relief detailing and a consistent glaze.

• No obvious major cracks or chips.

• The interior is reasonably clean, with some age-related discolouration around the upper rim.

• The hinged metal lid displays surface scratches, dulling and patina consistent with age.

• Some minor marks and wear are visible around the handle, base and decorative edges.

• The original GERZ W. GERMANY manufacturer's mark remains clearly visible underneath.

• The lid opens, although the hinge has not been independently assessed for long-term mechanical reliability.
