Vintage Italian Murano-Attributed Sommerso Art Glass Sculpture – Green & Amber – c.1960s–70s

A striking and substantial piece of vintage art glass, this dramatic freeform sculpture combines rich olive green and warm amber tones within a beautifully clear outer casing.

Attributed to Italian Murano production and dating to approximately the 1960s–70s, the piece displays characteristics associated with the sommerso glass tradition, where layers of contrasting coloured glass are encased within clear glass to create remarkable depth and luminosity.

The glass has been individually worked into a soaring organic form, with two elongated pulled peaks, sweeping clear outer wings and a distinctive circular opening incorporated into the lower body. From every angle, the sculpture presents differently as the green, amber and clear glass overlap and refract the surrounding light.

Standing 38.5 cm high and weighing approximately 2.3 kg, this is an impressive piece with considerable physical presence — equally at home in a mid-century interior, contemporary setting or established art-glass collection.
