Mini Story
A lovely example of mid-century Australian pottery from the classic production period of Martin Boyd Pottery.
Established in Sydney and active from the late 1940s through to the early 1960s, Martin Boyd Pottery produced a wide range of hand-decorated domestic wares that reflected Australia’s post-war design confidence. This sugar bowl dates to that sought-after era and is clearly incised to the base “Martin Boyd Australia”, a marking used during the pottery’s peak years.
With its warm earthy glaze, hand-painted landscape motif, and original fitted lid, this piece works beautifully as both a functional object and a display item for collectors of Australian studio and mid-century ceramics.
