This beautifully weighted vintage bowl has been carved and polished from fossil-rich stone or limestone, revealing millions of years of natural history once locked away. 

The swirling shell inclusions and earthy tones are entirely natural, formed long before human hands shaped the final piece, and crafted into this beautiful bowl through the forms of cutting, grinding and polishing in a process known as Lapidary Work.

Beautiful pieces such as these were popular during the mid–late 20th century as decorative objects and desk pieces. Many bowls like this were prized for their tactile quality and organic beauty.
