Mini Story or Hook:

An elegant vintage Strachan candlestick produced in the tradition of classic Old Sheffield and Georgian silverware.

Standing approximately 17 cm tall, the candlestick has a beautifully balanced neoclassical form with a broad circular stepped base, tapered central column and flared candle socket. Fine gadrooned or reeded borders around the base, stem and upper rim give the piece the restrained elegance associated with late Georgian silver design.

The underside retains its distinctive maker’s plaque reading “Old Sheffield Reproduction – Strachan”, identifying it as a deliberate reproduction of an earlier Sheffield-style design rather than period Old Sheffield Plate.

A handsome decorative piece for a traditional, Georgian, Regency or eclectic interior, and an appealing example of vintage Australian silverware.
