A wonderfully extravagant piece of vintage West German decorative design, this impressive mantel clock takes its inspiration from the elaborate clocks of the Baroque and Rococo periods.

The open architectural case is particularly striking, with scrolling acanthus-style decoration, classical columns, floral details and a pair of beautifully modelled female figures supporting either side of the clock. Above the dial is an elaborate domed framework topped by a decorative finial, giving the piece a commanding presence from every angle.

The cream dial features black Roman numerals, an intricate decorative centre and ornate hands, with “WEST-GERMANY” clearly printed beneath the VI.

Unlike many later decorative clocks, this example retains a traditional mechanical wind-up movement and comes with the winding key pictured.

A fantastic statement piece for a vintage interior, mantel, library, study or collection of European clocks and decorative objects.
